Then, just as you are lulled into a false sense of please make it go away, it will grab you by the shoulders, shake you out of your narcotic stupor, and demand you buy it something. If you live in America, you will be forced to buy it something. Even if you are not of the Christian faith, if you live in America and you don't make the appropriate purchases, or eat the enormous meal, or participate in some nominal way, or exhibit the appropriate level of enthusiasm and perkiness, you will be out of sync with the rest of what one might dubiously call American "culture", and as a result, you may be inclined to feel something akin to a douche.<BR/><BR/>But that's not really the important thing. The important thing is that we all enjoy the holiday on our own terms.
