from Michael Aitch Price:

Just now ran across this whilst perusing a raft of Depression-era film-exhibitor trade publications. Yes, it's an official Disney image, from 1934 -- but I've never seen a Michael Rodent of such frenzied aspect anywhere else.

'looks Steamboat Willie-esque to me--nicely colored--but the same rat-looking rodent....no?

This one you found (or Michael) is definitely "most rat-like"!!!

Most times the pr materials such as trade ads were not drawn by artists from actual animation studios...take a look at MGM posters from the 1940s and you'll see some awfully rendered Tom and Jerry and Tex Avery characters...Disney released his work through several different studios in the 1930s and his trade ads would have been created by those studio's marketing departments and not by his own artists.
