it's a train. it's a song. it's a hotel.
I have seen the Chattanooga Choo Choo sign from I-59 a couple of dozen times in my life, and have always been intrigued by it. So when I got bogged down with work on this "vacation" and couldn't go spend days with Marc Arsenault in Knoxville Tennessee, I suggested we meet halfway for lunch at the Chattanooga Choo Choo! I thought it was going to be swanky! But it was kinda not. I'll say no more! Maybe if you don't have an overblown preconception of what it's like you won't be disappointed if you go there. And we probably would have had better service etc if I had not forgotten about the time zone difference and made Marc and Jen hang there for 45 minutes with a baby in tow, until the place was almost closed! But hey, WTF??? The Chattanooga Choo Choo Restaurant closes at 2:00 pm on a SUNDAY? WTF???
Marc's wife Jen is prettier than any of us except the baby. Whose idea was it to have her take the picture anyway?
The next day I stopped at a Junque Shoppe with my mom, and they had a bar-b-q grill that was built to look like an old steam engine with Chattanooga Choo Choo plaque on its side! I was going to stop there again later and take a picture but I forgot.
You know what else just dawned on me? We coulda asked HEMLOCKMAN to meet us there! That woulda been interesting...

Who the heck is Hemlockman? More ME, ME ME!!!
I could possibly have done it this weekend. My wife and son and I are going to be staying at the Elkmont Campground inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for four days. We're taking our travel trailer there. My wife and son like Gatlinburg, and I'll go hiking while they putter around town.

If you wanted a more grandiose dining experience you should have gone farther north on Market Street to the Chattanoogan. Excellent!!
And you were only a mere 10 minutes from my office.
Oh, now you tell us!
Was that the place with the beignets?
Crap.
We actually stayed there a few years back but were in the regular hotel style rooms, not the cars which were all booked up at the time. The only part of the stay that was NOT enjoyable was THE RESTURANT! In fact "not enjoyable" is an understatement that overshadowed an otherwize nice stay.
