the fence of locks

This iron fence has a lot of locks on it. I can't remember why. I think somebody explained it to me once, the first time I went to Prague, years ago. I'm just not sure.

There's a similar thing on Yellow Mountain in China. My nephew went here with his wife when they first got married (she's Chinese). The point of the symbolism is that the lock represents your marriage. Yeah, it can be taken as pretty grim. However, the summit of Yellow Mountain is really pretty. And,yes, there are a buttload of locks up there. They've even gone back to check to see if their lock is still there, and it is.
