The restaurant had several of these "clamshell" indents in the walls, and each one was lit and contained a painting by this artist who has trouble with hands. The tangent of the wine bottle and the wiggly elbow add to the mystery.
The lighting was not actually this garish. I must have had the camera settings wrong.
