here's that pic

The one I mentioned in the previous post, but could not upload at the time. It contains a "quote attack" and some bold words. This is the example I wanted to use when I asked "How am I doing? Is my use of text enhancers confusing?"

I'm totally understanding the BOLD thing... but why the QUOTE thing?

It's the correct spelling and use of the word....

I assume the quotes are meant to express a derisive or disdainful attitude on the part of the speaker.

I think quotes are more commonly used to show that the speaker thinks the subject is anything but the term being quoted, but I'm okay with Mark's usage here, as it can be figured out from the context of the balloon.

It's not confusing at all. If someone wrote a novel that way, it'd drive me nuts; but in a comic panel it's 100% hunky-dory.

"FOLKS!" Don't encourage him! He'll confuse the "Youth" of "America" with his un"official" use of "BOLD" and QUOTES! Next thing you know, they'll be listening to that hibbidty-hob music and MARRYING "PEOPLE" OF THE "SAME" SEX! And it'll be "ALLL MARK'S FAULT"!!!

[sigh]

He shoulda stuck with NASCAR!!!
