we goofed!

A little dot under an exclamation point is missing from yesterday's blogopera. The chicken lady should be saying "AGIN!" - not "AGINI"

blogopera

I have no idea where this is going or how long it will last.

Trees and Hills Anthology is printed. So you can find out what happened to that lady who wanted a pickle.

Here's an interesting Halloween audio comp that Fiend Katya invited me to embellish. Find the "artwork" link for my offering.

teeny bumpers
A couple of friends and I are tossing around the idea of creating a couple of Teeny Weeny commercial bumpers and showing them to Nickelodeon.

We have 27 warm bodies so far, and have sold 13 yeahbutts.

thinking out loud
This blog has been pretty quiet lately because, frankly, not much exciting has happened lately. I'm thinking about starting a blog opera. Kinda like City Hospital, but not as elaborate. Just a black and white un-animated panel a day (except on the days when I don't).

shameless begging
Can anybody out there send an MP3 of this wonderful song to lasagnalagna at yahoo dotcom?

discrete

St Eli sent me "DISCRETE", a little book of his drawings. This one is my favorite. Talk to Eli if you want a copy.

Here is Benny modeling the fabulous hand-painted CATS megaphone! Everybody wanted it, but nobody wanted to actually pay for it. So Cousin Kirk captured it on film.

eeTeeD wants to know the Runaway Comic publishing schedule, so here goes. The first two issues are AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW! The third one is running late. And I suppose all future issues will run late. You know how it is with us Fantagraphics creators. Always late. My original plan was to put one out about every 6 - 9 months. I think it will be more like every 9-12 from here on out. It's hard to stay on track when there is no money and very little else involved, and other projects tempt me with riches and glory.

i'm on vacation!

Hi Julius, bonzogal, EVERYBODY! Greetings from ALABAMA! I'm glad to hear the US Postal Service is dutifully delivering YEAHBUTTS and Runaway 2s!

Here's a chunk of a page from the children's book roughs I am playing with here at Benny's Luxurious Studio.

Here's the house I grew up in! (one of them...)

Here's the creek where we used to catch crawdads and make them be astronauts in our Estes rockets! Actually Kerry and Whumpus bought all the rockets. They ALWAYS had lots of disposable income, the lucky stiffs! I have to confess, they caught all the crawdads too. I did not like handling them. So I guess I was pretty much an observer in all that.

In the extreme rear of this shot you can see the train trestle we played on. When a train went over, we would sit and stare at the huge crack in the cement wall of this trestle, praying for the spectacular train wreck that never happened. This is also the trestle that we threw Whumpus' bike off of one day when he went home to eat lunch and foolishly left his bike unguarded. That was pretty cool, but the brilliant part was filming the sacrifice with Whumpus' movie camera that we were using to make horror comedies with that day, so Whumpus could witness the spectacular fall when we got the film back and watched the movies.

Benny is upset because dumbass property owners, realtors, etc in his community are destroying homes that his dad the architect designed and built, and replacing them with soulless cookie cutter McMansions. It is indeed sad, because Benny's dad was a brilliant architect. If I was fluent in architctese, I could adequately describe the beautiful and practical flow of his homes, and the great use of natural lighting, and stuff like that. If I could choose one of these homes or a McMansion for the same price, there would be no contest. So the whole thing is baffling as hell.

Here is the early morning light in a Ben's daddy home (where Ben lives now, and I am a guest!)

Here is my design for the signs I told Ben he should post all over town.
