work in progress

These turtles aren't finished yet, but I feel like a slacker not putting some artwork up here. So here are the half-finished turtles that go in the Wales Christmas card scenes.

Here is the holly pattern I made to go on the wrapping paper. Feel free to download it and add it to your pattern library! It's 300 dpi and seamless! Merry Christmas! (Click to embiggen first...)

Here is where I got the holly to use to build the pattern.

Here is the home page for that site. It's a cool site for old public domain imagery.

Here is what happens if you do a google image search for "holly". WHOA! Not Safe For Work! You expect this sort of result if you search for "teen" or "reacharound" - but "holly"? The web is full of surprises!

Good public domain resource!
Thanks for the link.

Seeing you doing turtles again even if they aren't Ninjas makes me a happy lil artist. :)

Hugh Hefner and Holly Madison are on the outs? I really thought that was going to last.

Thanks for the public domain stuff. The turtles look pretty finished to me excepting that they are not in a scene of some kind, which I'm sure is to follow.

Wow! Both the cute turtles and the holly pattern are amazing!!

I love the christmas season. The mall where I deliver mail is already putting up the decorations. It's fun to go in there, now.

Now I don't wish to be cynical or to knock the enthusiasm of others, but at this time of year I get a decidedly different impression.

Christmas is like a Giant mall-sized spoiled toddler that follows you around every time you go out in public, relentlessly singing with cheery aggression tired old chestnuts in the voices of Bing Crosby, Burle Ives and Elvis. Then, just as you are lulled into a false sense of please make it go away, it will grab you by the shoulders, shake you out of your narcotic stupor, and demand you buy it something. If you live in America, you will be forced to buy it something. Even if you are not of the Christian faith, if you live in America and you don't make the appropriate purchases, or eat the enormous meal, or participate in some nominal way, or exhibit the appropriate level of enthusiasm and perkiness, you will be out of sync with the rest of what one might dubiously call American "culture", and as a result, you may be inclined to feel something akin to a douche.

But that's not really the important thing. The important thing is that we all enjoy the holiday on our own terms. At least, as long as we do so in the appropriate month.
